Partnering with a Skin Potential Coach
WHY CONSIDER CONSULTING A SKIN POTENTIAL COACH FOR YOUR SKINCARE JOURNEY?
Hello, everyone! It’s Michelle here, and I want to share some insights on why enlisting the help of a Skin Potential Coach can truly transform your skincare routine. As a Skin Potential Coach, I am an Internationally qualified, trained professional who specialises in helping my clients understand and optimise their skin health. This role goes beyond traditional skincare advice; it incorporates a holistic approach that considers a person’s unique skin conditions, lifestyle, and overall wellness. In my clinic, I strongly focus on sustainable strategies for maintaining healthy skin over time, including the incorporation of beneficial supplements. I serve as a partner in your skincare journey, helping you unlock your skin’s full potential through personalised care, expert guidance, and strategic recommendations, including the use of supplements for optimal skin health.
UNDERSTANDING SKIN TYPES VS. SKIN CONDITIONS
Many individuals believe that simply applying a few over-the-counter skincare products is enough to maintain healthy skin. However, using the wrong products can often do more harm than good.
Over the counter or online skincare products are typically categorised by skin types—oily, dry, normal, and combination. While this might seem straightforward, over the years – our understanding of skin has evolved significantly. As a Skin Potential Coach, I focus more on specific skin conditions rather than just skin types and consider the symptoms on the surface of skin as messages and clues to guide you to resolution of your concerns.
Common skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation, rosacea, acne, uneven skin tone, and dehydration can be treated very effectively, however, this requires the right products, which depend on the ingredients used, their potency, and how bioavailable they are to the cells of the skin. This is where guidance becomes invaluable.
THE ROLE OF THE SKIN BARRIER
The outermost layer of our skin, known as the stratum corneum, serves as a protective barrier against external factors. This layer consists of cornified (matured) skin cells known as corneocytes, a lipid bilayer, and amino acids, which together form the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) that locks in moisture. NMFs work to keep skin’s surface robust and supple by constantly absorbing humidity and bringing it into the corneocytes. Reduced levels of the NMF have been found in many disorders such as Atophic Dermatitis, psoriatic skin, rosacea, acne and sensitised or reactive skin. Environmental stressors, changes and advanced age can also result in lowered NMF levels. Over the past decades, research has provided us with a greater understanding of the importance of the NMF, We can now more fully recognise the importance of the NMF in healthy and distressed skin, and the beneficial clinical role that simply restoring the NMF and barrier can have on many skin conditions.
Unfortunately, using inappropriate skincare can disrupt this barrier, leading to various skin issues.
Can you confidently say that the products you’ve chosen are effectively addressing your skin concerns and not having a negative impact on your NMF and barrier? If you’re unsure, as a Skin Potential Coach, I can guide you in selecting the right products and treatments tailored to your unique needs, and even more beneficially, can also enhance your homecare routine with intensive treatments inclinic and appropriate skin supplement recommendations.
THE POWER OF COMBINATION TREATMENTS
In the ever-evolving landscape of skincare and wellness, achieving lasting results for concerns like hyperpigmentation and fine lines often requires a multifaceted approach. As a Skin Potential Coach, I’ve witnessed firsthand how combining advanced treatments with targeted skincare can significantly enhance results.
Think of it like preparing a canvas for painting. Without the right preparation, your paints may not adhere well or may fade or peel. Similarly, treating unprepared skin with a single modality often yields limited improvements. I find that clients who follow a comprehensive regimen alongside treatments typically report much higher satisfaction.
TARGETING SKIN CONCERNS WITH PRECISION
To effectively address common skin issues, it’s essential to choose the right combination of treatments and ingredients. Here are some effective strategies:
1. Skin Tightening
Micro and nano-needling are excellent for skin tightening. Both techniques create micro-channels, enhancing the absorption of ingredients like tranexamic acid and growth factors. For optimal outcomes, and in suitable skin, I may incorporate heat through radiofrequency (RF) or infrared (IR) treatments to stimulate collagen production.
2. Brightening
For pigmentation-related concerns, targeted treatments can break down excess pigment while promoting more regular deposition of pigment in future. A series of peels, alternating with microneedling sessions, can effectively address the lifecycle of melanocytes. Consistency is key, including daily use of active ingredients and high-quality SPF.
3. Improving Skin Texture
Intensive treatments, such as microneedling combined with revitalising peels, can significantly improve fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. Incorporating peptides and exosomes can enhance skin regeneration, particularly for those experiencing hormonal changes or environmental stressors.
PREPARING YOUR SKIN FOR TREATMENTS
Proper skin preparation is essential for achieving the best results. In the week leading up to a procedure, treatments like LED therapy, hydro dermabrasion, or gentle peels can enhance the skin’s receptivity to active ingredients.
Additionally, introducing effective active ingredients into your homecare routine will support these treatments.
TAILORING TREATMENTS TO YOUR NEEDS
Every skincare journey begins with a thorough evaluation of your unique concerns. I utilise detailed questionnaires and examinations to assess your skin and recommend appropriate treatments. Understanding your medication history, sun exposure, and overall health helps in crafting a personalised plan.
It’s important to remember that our journey together may start slowly, allowing us to evaluate how your skin responds before progressing to more advanced treatments.
Combining advanced technologies with targeted skincare is crucial for effectively addressing common skin concerns like hyperpigmentation and signs of ageing. By adopting a comprehensive approach—including proper preparation and tailored care—we can significantly enhance the effectiveness and longevity of your skincare treatments, leading to healthier, more radiant skin.
